August 20th, a fun day to remember, cos my favorite online radio station surprised me with a cool call. It was when I was shopping with Lucy, my fiancee, that Virgin Radio caught me in a good surprise.

I've been enjoying Virgin Radio since early 2004, and a couple o' weeks ago Brian from the station sent me a mail asking if I want to talk with him in a breakfast show about Beijing Olympic Games - sure I replied Yes, but then I heard nothing from him, until today. It turned out that Brian is now in Beijing for the Games and may be in need of my translation help for his entry into the Bird's Nest. What can I say... Obviously, I'm glad to help!

First Christian from Virgin Radio chatted with me, live, about the great Games undergoing in the capital of my country, and he was kind to let me have the opportunity to introduce a record by saying "Hi I'm Leon from China, and you are listening to Virgin Radio, the best radio station in the world" - in Mandarin! A great pleasure for me ;-)

Then it was Brian on the call, who was trying to enter the Bird's Nest, and I tried to have him follow my Chinese words for the guards to understand that he is a good folk...sadly, it didn't work, and our conversation was cut off, and that was it. It seems that the entry to Bird's Nest might be a bit more complicated than we thought.

Shamed that it was overwhelming for me at the beginning and I even couldn't feel my legs - that's not good for my shopping with Lucy, hah - and I regret that I wasn't helpful enough for poor Brian. Later I got a thank note texted by Virgin Radio, but I do want to be of more help than I was. Let's hope that Brian got into the fantastic Bird's Nest and had provide audience of Virgin Radio with a grand report.

It's been an interesting Olympic-related experience, and I believe in four years, the experience will be overwhelming as well, for our lovely UK folks, who will be hosting the fantastic Games for all of us around the world.

BTW, I'm glad to report to any blackberry addict out there that:

• My 30min Virgin Radio talk was done with my 8310 in a crowded, noisy Parkson mall - sure the call was crystal-clear;
• This post is done with Opera 4.1 on my BB 8310, shortly after the talk. (with some modifications on format with my PC later on)
